The Edinburg Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 59-36 walloping at the hands of Edinburg North. While losing is never fun, Edinburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Edinburg North is ranked 249th).
Edinburg lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Phoenix McBride, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Joseph Cruz, who scored 16 points along with two steals for Edinburg North. Another player making a difference was Raul Palacios, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Edinburg's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9. As for Edinburg North, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 22-8.
Edinburg will head out on the road to take on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is on a four-game streak of home losses, Edinburg a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Edinburg North will take on Economedes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Nathaniel De La Garza and Cruz.
