AAA Peninsula recap Oct. 23, 2012
Phoebus extended the longest winning streak in AAA Peninsula this week by beating Woodside, 40-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Phantoms.
Heritage was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Hurricanes beat Kecoughtan 32-17 earlier in the week.
Heritage's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Richard Outlaw threw for 63 yards and Tim Shepard had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Khalid Abdullah chipped in 170 yards. Carerom Siler helped Heritage's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
Heritage's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hurricanes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Outlaw has thrown for 646 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Marcus Hook has four catches for 147 yards. Abdullah leads the league in rushing with 1408 yards.
A big matchup in AAA Peninsula this week will be when Hampton takes on the Warriors. As it stands, the Crabbers are in second, while Kecoughtan is in fifth.
