The Caledonia-Mumford Raiders pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Mount Morris. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Wednesday (59), Caledonia-Mumford still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Caledonia-Mumford still got an impressive performance from Nathan Doll, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds. Doll scored a full 49.2% of Caledonia-Mumford's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Donny Peet, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Caledonia-Mumford were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Mount Morris' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Young, who scored ten points along with six assists and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Bryson Constantino was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Caledonia-Mumford now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Mount Morris, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Caledonia-Mumford will be home for the holidays to greet Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Mount Morris, they will head out on the road to face off against Keshequa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keshequa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 683rd, while Mount Morris is ranked 308th).
