The Woodsboro Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 54-37 bruising from Port Aransas. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Woodsboro of the 41-32 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Woodsboro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aniya Zena, who scored 13 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zena has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaqulynn Tully, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Woodsboro has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season. As for Port Aransas, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Yorktown the next time they take the court. Woodsboro will head out to face Yorktown at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while Port Aransas will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
