The Bishop Neumann Cavaliers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mitchell Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Bishop Neumann is ranked 29th, while Mitchell is ranked 44th).
Bishop Neumann owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 12-0 victory over Aquinas.
It was another big night for Conor Booth, who rushed for 270 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Booth hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games.
Meanwhile, Mitchell put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Gordon-Rushville 58-20 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mitchell.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mitchell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cael Peters, who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes. Santi Castillo was another key contributor, gaining 157 total yards and three touchdowns.
Bishop Neumann's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 David City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37% over those games). As for Mitchell, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Bishop Neumann has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 415.1 total yards per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 411.4 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
