Softball Recap: Chatfield Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Chatfield won the last time they faced Fillmore Central/Lanesboro and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Gophers blew past the Falcons 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Gophers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Makenna Dornack was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Knutson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Chatfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Chatfield's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Fillmore Central/Lanesboro, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chatfield is set to take on their familiar foe Dover-Eyota at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gophers 3.6, the Eagles 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Fillmore Central/Lanesboro will square off against rival Caledonia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
