Softball Recap: Chatfield Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Chatfield won the last time they faced Fillmore Central/Lanesboro and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Gophers were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Falcons. Considering the Gophers have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Makenna Dornack was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Knutson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Chatfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fillmore Central/Lanesboro only posted an OBP of .211.

Chatfield pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Fillmore Central/Lanesboro, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chatfield will square off against rival Dover-Eyota at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gophers 3.6, the Eagles 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Fillmore Central/Lanesboro is set to face off against their familiar foe Caledonia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
