The Douglas Tigers pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-63 to Reno. Douglas has struggled against Reno recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Douglas got some senior leadership from Jett Lehmann and Trace Estes. Lehmann scored 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds, while Estes. dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Estes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Pitts, who scored 12 points.
Reno's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Harvey Smerdon, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Casey, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Reno, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Douglas will head out on the road to square off against Bishop Manogue at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Manogue is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Reno, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carson has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
