The Central City Bison had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-31 win over Arcadia/Loup City. Given Central City's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Arcadia/Loup City is ranked 188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colter Lueders, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Ayden Zikmund was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Several Rebels players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Max Lewandowski, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Trey Vanslyke, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Arcadia/Loup City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Central City's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Arcadia/Loup City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Central City and Ravenna will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ravenna is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Arcadia/Loup City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Loup on Tuesday.
