Allison Keusch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Niwata, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Avery Griffin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Bonita Vista waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mavericks a 2-0 shutout.
Natalie Gonzalez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ariana Magdaleno was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaissa Del Rio, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Bonita Vista hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Costa Canyon struck out eight times.
Rancho Buena Vista is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bonita Vista, their record now sits at 11-2.
Rancho Buena Vista came up short against Bonita Vista in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
