Baseball Recap: Notre Dame-Green Pond Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Notre Dame-Green Pond rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers with a sharp 11-4 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Notre Dame-Green Pond let Clemente Cintron and Jason Frederick run wild. Cintron went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Frederick went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits Frederick has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Colin Pevorus, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Notre Dame-Green Pond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Philadelphia Academy Charter only posted a batting average of .269.

The win was the fifth in a row for Notre Dame-Green Pond, bringing their record up to 17-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame-Green Pond will take on Berks Catholic on Thursday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Philadelphia Academy Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
