Marlboro Central moved up to 73 from 100 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 9 B. The Dukes climbed the ranks as a result of topping New Paltz 28-7.
Marlboro Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Huguenots, 28-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the Rich Ward's team.
Spackenkill's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Evan Loughran threw for 136 and two touchdowns and Corey Usavich had 57 yards receiving. On the ground Wayne Bowden chipped in 111 yards. Josh Riley helped Spackenkill's passing attack out by catching two balls for 53 yards.
The Spartans' Loughran and Riley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Loughran has thrown for 971 yards this season, while Riley has 19 catches for 422 yards. Khariff LaBoy from New Paltz leads the league in rushing with 1005 yards.
Tom Tegeler's team's Darryl Clark needs only 72 yards against Spackenkill next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Clark has rushed for 928 yards on 123 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Section 9 B this week will be when Clinton Desouza's team takes on the Huguenots. At the moment, the Spartans are in second, while New Paltz is in third.
Highland took down O'Neill 37-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
