The Northridge Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 41-18 walloping at the hands of Severance. Northridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Severance apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Northridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Raul Gallegos. Despite the final result, he rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns.
Ian Pennock was his usual excellent self, rushing for 310 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Hoffman, who picked up 132 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Northridge to a paltry 180 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Severance's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. Masen Campbell was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Northridge's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Thompson Valley and 9-2 Roosevelt (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.5% over those games). As for Severance, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Northridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Severance also has no future games currently scheduled.
