Edinburg is 9-1 against Economedes since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bobcats will welcome the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Edinburg had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt La Joya on Friday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 33-9 margin over the Coyotes. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Edinburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidden Sanchez led the charge by throwing for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Cisneros also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Edinburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Orly Martinez and Cisneros. Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another thorn in La Joya's side was David Garza, who made six total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Special teams played a big role in the game for Edinburg, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cisneros, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Economedes' strategy against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Jaguars blew the Bears out of the water with a 52-3 final score. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won five games by 32 points or more so far this season.
Edinburg better keep an eye on Johan Nunez. He was instrumental in Economedes' win, rushing for 145 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing yards Nunez has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Garcia, who rushed for 42 yards and two scores.
Economedes was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 286 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Economedes' defense and their four sacks. Josiah Villarreal was especially locked on to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's QB and sacked him three times. Economedes got some further help from Mark Chavira: he made nine total tackles and defended three passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Economedes' victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Edinburg, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Edinburg beat Economedes 24-17 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
