The Ridgemont Golden Gophers had to endure a 32-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 45-30 victory over Crestline on Tuesday. Ridgemont's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Ridgemont found their leader in underclassman Laney Elsasser, who scored eight points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Elsasser posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruth Eckstein, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jocelyn Noblit, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jacelynn Miller, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Ridgemont's win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-9. As for Crestline, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgemont will face off against Vanlue at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Vanlue focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. Crestline won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lucas at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th. Lucas comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
