After a string of eight wins, The Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 23-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greeneville. Elizabethton lost against Greeneville in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 21-0 score last time.
Rhett Slagle threw for 94 yards on 14 of 23 attempts. Jeriah Griffin was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards. On the ground, Kaleb Holzer rushed for 33 yards.
Elizabethton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Greeneville, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elizabethton will play host again and welcome Carter, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Elizabethton is ranked 23rd). As for Greeneville, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Fulton at 7:00 p.m.
