Softball Game Preview: Blackfoot Broncos vs. Shelley Russets

For the second straight game, Blackfoot will face off against Shelley. The Broncos will host the Russets at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Blackfoot is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.

Shelley will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Blackfoot extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Broncos walked away with a 13-9 win over the Russets.

Brianna Reynolds made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Blackfoot got a massive performance out of Berkley Moore, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that Moore brought in this season. Sela Christiansen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Blackfoot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Shelley moved to 10-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Blackfoot, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Blackfoot has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .512. However, it's not like Shelley struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
