Washington County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ke'Myia Young out in front who posted 26 points. Young is becoming a predictor of Washington County's success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is 5-2 (and 7-8 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Carter, who on her way to 21 points.
Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown entered their tilt with Rosewood on Tuesday with 16 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 17. They claimed a resounding 60-23 victory over the Eagles. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 23 points or more this season.
Washington County better keep an eye on Olivia Jane Cahoon. She was instrumental in Northside - Pinetown's win, to rack up 35 points along with seven steals and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cahoon has scored at least a third of Northside - Pinetown's points. Madison Scheffler was another key player, en route to 10 points.
Northside - Pinetown pushed their record up to 26-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Washington County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Washington County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northside - Pinetown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge on Friday.
Everything came up roses for Washington County against Northside - Pinetown when the teams last played back in February of 2019, as the squad secured a 77-28 victory. In that game, Washington County amassed a halftime lead of 43-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
