East Hartford has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Manchester Red Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
East Hartford fought the good fight in their overtime game against Edwin O. Smith on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, East Hartford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Edwin O. Smith is ranked 19th).
Meanwhile, Manchester waltzed into their match Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 71-17 victory over Tolland. Manchester's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Tiara Tyson was her usual excellent self, scoring 35 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Elise Ryan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
East Hartford's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Manchester, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
East Hartford came up short against Manchester when the teams last played back in February, falling 58-52. Can East Hartford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
