The Germantown Mavericks can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. They blew past Murrah, posting a 65-26 victory on the road. Given Germantown's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Murrah is ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Germantown to victory were Raegan Jordan and Alana Rouser. Jordan scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Rouser dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Rouser is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bella Williams, who scored eight points.
Germantown is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Murrah, they bumped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home.
Germantown and Starkville will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Starkville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday. As for Murrah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
