Softball Recap: Sabino Has No Trouble Against Rio Rico

Sabino got themselves on the board against Rio Rico on Monday, but Rio Rico never followed suit. They blew past the Rio Rico Hawks 12-0. The Sabercats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Bobbi Valles and Mia Acosta did most of the damage at the plate: Valles scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Acosta scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Acosta has posted since back in March of 2024. Alyssa Aguirre was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Sabino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the win, Sabino broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-9. As for Rio Rico, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Sabino will host Douglas at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rio Rico, they will venture away from home to square off against Nogales at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
