Trinity will venture away from home to square off against Dalton at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Trinity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Trinity turned things around against Collegiate on Wednesday. They never let the Dutchmen get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory.
Matthew Ladden was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Freddie Crowhurst also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Dalton got the win against Riverdale Country on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jackson Herzog spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Dalton is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Sam Klein and Ryan Feder did most of the damage at the plate: Klein went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Feder went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Klein has posted since back in May of 2024. Miles Gumbs was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Dalton now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Trinity, their record is now 5-6.
Dalton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trinity has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Dalton, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Trinity's hitters?
Trinity suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Dalton in their previous matchup last Monday. Can Trinity avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
