Softball Recap: ALA - Anthem South Wins Going Away Against San Miguel

ALA - Anthem South gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on the San Miguel Vipers with a sharp 22-8 win. Considering the Titans have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Susan Davis looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She also put up seven walks, which were her first of the season.

At the plate, Miley Rice was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellie Miller, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

ALA - Anthem South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are 10-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

ALA - Anthem South's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 17.7 runs. As for San Miguel, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, ALA - Anthem South will challenge Heritage Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something ALA - Anthem South surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Miguel, they will square off against Desert Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.09 runs per game on average), something San Miguel will no doubt try to take advantage of.
