Maddison Kelley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Conotton Valley got a big performance out of Brooklyn Kelley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ava Williams, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Conotton Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Caldwell put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Shadyside with a sharp 10-0 win.
Hanna Reiter was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Marshall, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Conotton Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Caldwell, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Conotton Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Caldwell struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
