4A Region 8 recap September 24, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Spanish Fork, who defeated 45th ranked Maple Mountain, 35-28. Jason Money threw for 252 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 123 yards in the win.
Timpview was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 4A Region 8. The Thunderbirds defeated Springville 35-0 earlier in the week.
Zack Reiss put up the best numbers in passing as Wasatch fell to Salem Hills. He finished with a total of 26 completions for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns. Reiss' favorite target this week was Zach Purdy, who caught 8 passes for 70 yards.
Taylor Noles was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 155 yards on 26 carries as the Dons topped the Golden Eagles.
Cade Cloward was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Wasps fell to the Skyhawks. The 6-foot-1 junior.
Anderson was the best wideout in the league this week as Spanish Fork topped Maple Mountain. Anderson tallied 8 receptions for 120 yards. Jade Nielsen helped Spanish Fork's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 73 yards.
Money provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kirk Chambers' team beat Brad Burtenshaw's team.
He went 26-47 with 2 interceptions.
A big matchup in 4A Region 8 this week will be when Wasatch takes on the Red Devils. At the moment, Steve Coburn's team is in fourth, while Springville is in second.
Provo fell to Sky View 59-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
