I Section IV recap October 29, 2013
Dobson fell to Brophy College Prep 52-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Joshua Jaramillo was a bright spot for the Mustangs, as he threw for 83 yards and ran for 33 yards in the loss.
Corona del Sol made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,003 from 5,028. The improvement was the result of a 41-28 victory over Desert Vista last week.
Brian Woodward threw for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 16-22 with 0 interceptions.
Woodward and Ryan Velez gave the Broncos a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Teammate Will Edwards added to the ground attack by rushing for 83 yards.
Mountain Pointe's Antonio Hinojosa and Jalen Brown led I Section IV in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Hinojosa has thrown for 1,351 yards this season, while Brown has 33 catches for 719 yards. Velez from Brophy College Prep leads the league in rushing with 825 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Pride's Brown goes up against Dobson's Zach Bright.
Next week's game between Mountain Pointe and George De La Torre's team will feature an aerial matchup as Hinojosa tests his arm against Bright's defensive ability.
As it stands, the Thunder are in second, while Scooter Molander's team is in third.
