Perry Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past the South Central Rebels 4-2. For the Commodores, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 win the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Owen Hubert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hubert was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cohen Edwards was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Luke Zellers was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry Central will venture away from home to square off against South Spencer at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Central, they will head out to challenge Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
