Basketball Recap: Garfield Skates Past Champion with Ease

Garfield waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Champion Golden Flashes 72-42. The G-Men have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Garfield had a senior duo take command as Aidan Hill dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds and Preston Gedeon went 13 for 25 on his way to 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hill has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cade Rock, who posted eight points and nine boards.

Garfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists.they racked up 14 more assists than Champion's almost as impressive total of ten

Champion lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Damien Wickham, who went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Miller, who put up 16 points.

Garfield's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points over those games. As for Champion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garfield will host LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaBrae knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Garfield likes a good challenge. As for Champion, they will be playing at home against Brookfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
