Mogollon and Hayden are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Mogollon Mustangs will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Hayden Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on November 11th. Mogollon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 445 points over their last nine matchups.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mogollon had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bagdad and snuck past 36-34. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Meanwhile, Hayden put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on El Capitan/Centennial Academy with a sharp 28-8 victory. The result was nothing new for Hayden, who have now won ten games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Hayden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paul Gaither, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Hayden also got help from Kino Lorona who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hayden's defense and their three sacks. Mark Acevedo was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Their wins bumped Mogollon to 9-2 and Hayden to 11-0.
Mogollon suffered a grim 34-8 defeat to Hayden in their previous matchup back in September. Can Mogollon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
