Columbus can attribute much of their success to Colter Chamberlin, who threw for 235 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 45 yards. Those 235 passing yards gave Chamberlin a new career-high.
Columbus didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Huntley Project to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Brayden McPherson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Columbus wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 69.6%.
Columbus' defense didn't let Blake Ramaeker, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Ethan Hulsey was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua strolled past Loyola-Sacred Heart with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 22-6. Those 22 points were actually the fewest the Scotties have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua's win came from a few key players Columbus will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Wyatt Sugg, who rushed for 184 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 99 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Khye Gamas, who rushed for 114 yards and one score.
Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gamas and Tayven Bietz. Gamas' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards.
Columbus' record now sits at 6-3. As for Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua, their record is now 10-0.
Columbus came up short against Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, falling 20-13. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
