Baseball Recap: Houston Math Science & Tech Has No Trouble Against Wisdom

After only one run in their last match, Houston Math Science & Tech made sure to put some runs up on the board against Wisdom on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Generals with a sharp 12-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-2 last Tuesday.

Jaden Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Houston Math Science & Tech is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Ryan Cervantes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Houston Math Science & Tech's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Mario Leija was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Houston Math Science & Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wisdom only posted an OBP of .214.

Houston Math Science & Tech's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Wisdom, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston Math Science & Tech will host Cesar E. Chavez at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Lobos at the right time seeing as the Lobos are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Wisdom, they will welcome Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.56 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
