Softball Recap: Academy at the Lakes Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hernando, Academy at the Lakes was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers by a score of 6-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Elizabeth Budine made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiana Wright, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Ella Picard was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Academy at the Lakes' victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Foundation Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy at the Lakes will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Admiral Farragut at 4:30 p.m. on April 10. As for Foundation Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grace Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
