Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stone Bridge walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Panthers on Friday as they made off with a 35-14 victory. Winning may never get old, but Stone Bridge sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Stone Bridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Na?eem Abdul-rahim gladding, who picked up 183 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Abdul-rahim gladding was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 60 yards. Brandon Pena was another key contributor, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last match, Briar Woods made sure to put some points up on the board against Riverbend on Friday. Briar Woods blew past Riverbend 48-18 at home.
Brady Carmical continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 132 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 194 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Another player making a difference was Trey Dudley, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Stone Bridge pushed their record up to 6-4-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points per game. As for Briar Woods, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Stone Bridge strolled past Briar Woods in their previous meeting back in October by a score of 29-12. Will Stone Bridge repeat their success, or does Briar Woods have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
