Baseball Recap: South Fremont Has No Trouble Against Bear Lake

While South Fremont put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Bear Lake. The Cougars put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tayson Farley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Hammond, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. South Fremont is 4-1 when Hammond posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Kierce Gold was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

The victory got South Fremont back to even at 7-7. As for Bear Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coming up, South Fremont will take on Filer in a tournament on Saturday. As for Bear Lake, they will head out on the road to face off against Buhl at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
