Savannah Moore and Gabi Riddle put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Moore pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Riddle pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. At bat, Moore scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Riddle scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Moore a new career-high in hits (three).
In other batting news, Jordyn Marsh was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Nora Cutler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Pelion gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against South Aiken as Pelion made off with a 14-8 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Thoroughbreds: they've now won three in a row.
Like Mid-Carolina, Pelion also got a great game from a two-way player: Elizabeth Sox. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, Sox didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Jackson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Summer Randolph, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Pelion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Aiken only posted an OBP of .464.
Mid-Carolina took their victory against Pelion in their previous meeting back in March of 2016 by a conclusive 23-6. Does Mid-Carolina have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pelion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
