Highland Springs hasn't had much luck against Atlee recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Springers will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Highland Springs was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Varina, sneaking past 10-9. The victory was some much needed relief for the Springers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Elise Fleming made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Fleming was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Atlee got themselves on the board against Mechanicsville on Friday, but Mechanicsville never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-0 win. The Raiders have beaten the Mustangs the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.
Atlee got a massive performance out of Izzie Turnauer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Turnauer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Atlee struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highland Springs might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Atlee in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Springers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
