Given Prestonwood Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Vikings are ranked 424th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Prestonwood Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Price, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Londyn Oliphant, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, John Paul II pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ursuline Academy. John Paul II's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Prestonwood Christian's victory bumped their record up to 25-5. As for John Paul II, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-16.
Prestonwood Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Cardinals in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prestonwood Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
