Brynlee Stickley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ellie McCarty was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Miley Morgan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Symmes Valley hit Eastern with a seven-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Vikings, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost five in a row.
Eastern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braelyn Bevins, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Oak Hill, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oak Hill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oak Hill might still be hurting after the 20-0 loss they got from Eastern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Oaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
