The Eau Gallie Commodores will face off against the Satellite Scorpio at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eau Gallie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Eau Gallie was able to grind out a solid victory over Lancaster, taking the game 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commodores.
Jovanni Hollenbeck looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayden Jaquez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alex Barna, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Eau Gallie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lancaster only posted a batting average of .200.
Ten must be Satellite's lucky number: they beat Rockledge with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Scorpio had just enough and edged out the Raiders 10-9. The Scorpio haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Brady Roberts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Roberts was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Satellite: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
Roberts wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Ott, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Eli Welsh was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Eau Gallie's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Satellite, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eau Gallie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Satellite struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eau Gallie came out on top in a nail-biter against Satellite when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Commodores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scorpio turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
