Basketball Recap: Prospect Ridge Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against The Academy last Friday, Prospect Ridge Academy came back down to earth. The Prospect Ridge Academy Miners fell to the Peak to Peak Pumas 66-61. If the Miners were looking for revenge after losing 59-38 to them when the teams met on Friday, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Prospect Ridge Academy lost, don't look at Travis Agbosse. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Agbosse's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Liam Schilling was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Prospect Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Peak to Peak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tysen Burton led the charge by going 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points along with eight boards and four steals. Burton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nyima Chonden, who posted 14 points.

With the defeat, Prospect Ridge Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4. As for Peak to Peak, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Prospect Ridge Academy will face off against Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forge Christian is on a three-game streak of home wins, Prospect Ridge Academy a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Peak to Peak, they will host Denver Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
