Sierra Foothill League recap November 5, 2013
Woodcreek's Mitchell Layton recorded the longest rushing play in Sierra Foothill League this season in his game against Granite Bay last week.
Rocklin added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Roseville, 31-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Michael Moore was a passing and rushing force as Del Oro defeated Nevada Union. He completed 11 passes for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 39 yards. Moore's favorite target this week was Trey Udoffia, who caught 4 passes for 122 yards.
Josh Neal threw for 198 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 11-18 with 0 interceptions.
Neal put up the best numbers through the air as the Grizzlies beat the Timberwolves. Neal's favorite target this week was Brian Graber, who caught 5 passes for 120 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Granite Bay's Neal and Marc Ellis have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Neal has thrown for 1,845 yards this season, while Ellis has 49 catches for 744 yards. The Golden Eagles' Dylan Kainrath leads the league in rushing yards with 1,099.
The top two teams in Sierra Foothill League will face off this week when first place Rocklin takes on second place Del Oro. Last week, Rocklin defeated the Tigers, while Del Oro topped the Miners.
Going into this week's game against Nevada Union, Skip Albano's team's Neal needs 155 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
Greg Benzel's team's Evyn Holtz needs only 23 yards against Casey Taylor's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 164 carries Holtz has accumulated 977 yard this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Golden Eagles take on the Thunder. Del Oro has allowed 221 points this season, while Rocklin has given up 106. The Golden Eagles allowed 21 points last week as they topped Dennis Houlihan's team.
The Miners fell to Del Oro 70-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mo Nieves was a bright spot for Nevada Union, as he ran for 137 yards in the loss.
