The Clinton Prairie Gophers will venture away from home to face off against the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clinton Prairie came out on top against Clinton Central on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Gophers never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Gophers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Cayden Robinson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Harshbarger, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Thomas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Clinton Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, North Montgomery waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Bison as they made off with a 13-2 victory.
Crew Cole made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Cole was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aiden Ambriz-Cruz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for North Montgomery: the team is 12-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Cade Cole was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
North Montgomery's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Clinton Prairie, their record now sits at 12-4.
Clinton Prairie took their win against North Montgomery in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gophers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
