Morgan Township is 10-0 against Tri-Township since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Morgan Township Cherokees will challenge the Tri-Township Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Morgan Township didn't have quite enough to beat Boone Grove and fell 58-56. The Cherokees have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaleb Pepper, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Walters, who posted nine points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-35, which was the final score in Tri-Township's tilt against Washington Township on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Senators are ranked 163rd).
Morgan Township will have to contain Dillon Stewart as he made an impact in Tri-Township's last game. He dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. That was a full 51.4% of Tri-Township's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Koselke, who put up seven points and six rebounds.
Tri-Township has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Morgan Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Morgan Township has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 21.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Tri-Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
