Softball Game Preview: North East Carolina Prep Husky vs. Perquimans Pirates

North East Carolina Prep is 0-9 against Perquimans since March of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Husky will head out on the road to face off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Perquimans will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: North East Carolina Prep extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Husky put the hurt on Greene Central with a sharp 13-1 victory.

Savannah Babb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Babb was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Natalie Bunting was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicole Jeffreys, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

North East Carolina Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Martin County typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Perquimans proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Gators 13-3. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won four in a row.

Perquimans' victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for North East Carolina Prep, their record now sits at 12-9.

North East Carolina Prep might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Perquimans in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Husky avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
