Baseball Recap: Dixon Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Dixon extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 4-2. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Croatan Cougars. Three seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Nick Lacugna, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

As for Croatan, they now have a losing record of 2-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Croatan's side, Harrison Thomas put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Thomas has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Thomas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Augie Morris, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Kayden Coutts also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Dixon is set to face off against their familiar foe West Carteret at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Croatan will take on rival Swansboro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
