Edgewood is 7-1 against Conneaut since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Edgewood will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Edgewood's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Geneva.
Not much got past Lucianna Paolillo, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Geneva off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carly Tracy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conneaut). They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over McKinley on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Lexi Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Conneaut got a big performance out of Grace Todaro, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Todaro has posted over her last 11 games. Another player making a difference was Chloe Boyle, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
Conneaut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Edgewood's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Conneaut, their win bumped their record up to 4-14.
Everything went Edgewood's way against Conneaut in their previous matchup on Friday, as Edgewood made off with a 21-4 victory. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
