It was a good run, but the Rabun County Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 73-58 bruising from Franklin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rabun County came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 118th in Georgia, while Franklin is ranked 278th in North Carolina).
Avery Moffitt was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Franklin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Queen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 assists.
Rabun County's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rabun County will take on Walhalla at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin, they will play host again and welcome Hayesville, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hayesville's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Franklin's offense will have their work cut out for Franklin.
