Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sylmar walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 85-70 victory over the Legacy Tigers on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Sylmar found their leader in sophomore Andrew Galvez, who went 11-for-22 to rack up 30 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Galvez a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Tim Tanner, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Sylmar was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.6.
Sylmar's record now sits at 11-18. As for Legacy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-21.
