Lincoln Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Oak Hall: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Gavin Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Oak Hall's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Eastside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Branford, falling 22-5.
Kaiden Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Oak Hall, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Eastside's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Oak Hall has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Eastside, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Oak Hall keep running through batters, or will the Rams buck the trend?
Everything went Oak Hall's way against Eastside when the teams last played back in February, as Oak Hall made off with a 20-2 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
