Owensboro Catholic is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Bowling Green just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Purples by a score of 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Owensboro Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Moser, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Clinton County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of McCreary Central.
Austin Arms was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Tucker Casada made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Drake Thrasher, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Clinton County's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Owensboro Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
